Paint Booth Fire Suppression Systems
A fire suppression system is the safest decision you’ll ever make.
Fire Suppression Systems are used to extinguish, contain, or in some cases, entirely prevent fires from spreading or occurring on a 24/7 basis. They provide both automatic and manual activation as well as micro switches to shut off the electricity, natural gas and ventilation to the paint booth or mixing room. They are also capable of providing local alarms, reporting to a building fire alarm or a central monitoring station.

Why a fire suppression system?
NFPA 33 – The National Fire Protection Association’s Standard for Spray Applications Using Flammable or Combustible Materials has been adopted by all 50 States, either directly or through the International Fire Code 904.6. The below NFPA 33 passages dictate that fire protection systems are required.
NFPA 33 – 9.1.1.1 – Spray areas, as defined in this standard, used for liquid spray operations shall be protected with an approved automatic fire protection system.
NFPA 33 – 9.1.2.1 – Mix rooms shall be protected with an approved automatic fire protection system.
It is likely that your local Authorities will require an approved automatic fire suppression system to protect your paint booth or mixing room. Checking on these requirements upfront is extremely important.
What does the system include? We try to include everything you will need for the fire suppression system, however local requirements and building configurations may affect your system price. Our quoted system price includes:
- Agent Cylinders
- System controls with gas and electric shutdowns
- Discharge Nozzles for the work area, Plenum, and a straight Ducting
- Heat Detectors for the work area, plenum, and Straight ducting – Fusible or bulb Type links
- Manual Pull Station(s)
- Corner Pulleys and Pulley Tees to facilitate the installation of the Heat Detection and Manual Pull Station(s)
- The fire system price includes the system being installed on site by a local licensed and certified installer after the booth is erected.
- The price for the installation of the fire suppression system is based on the exhaust duct being routed straight up through the roof without any changes in direction. If the routing of the exhaust duct requires changes in direction, each location where there is a bend in the ductwork will require an additional fire suppression nozzle to be installed.
- Additional fire suppression nozzles to protect changes in direction are an additional fee that are the responsibility of the end user and will be quoted directly by the installing Fire Equipment Distributor.
- The price for Fire System installation does not include local permits, electrical labor, and hardware to connect shutdowns. These required costs vary greatly across the country and cannot be estimated in the package price. These required costs will be quoted to and charged directly to the end user by the local installing fire equipment distributor.
Certain States like California, New York, Nevada, Texas, Alaska, and Hawaii can present roadblocks to the contracting process, preventing us from facilitating our fire system installation. For these states, we would be happy to reach out to the local installer before providing a quote. If we do not feel that we can provide you with the best fire suppression system and installation, we will recommend that you contract the installation of the Amerex Industrial System locally.
