Safety Certifications

SAFE, COMPLIANT AND AFFORDABLE
It is important to comply with state, national and local codes, and regulations to keep your employees and facility safe. To understand what safety regulations apply to your booth operations, there are a few principal groups to familiarize yourself with.

NFPA
The National Fire Protection Association standard 33 (NFPA 33) is the top-level safety code in the USA for spray application of flammable or combustible materials. The processes enforced by NFPA 33 mitigate the risk of fire from highly flammable paints and coatings. This incorporates fire suppression systems, airflow requirements, and overall design of the booth.

OSHA
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) ensures employee safety, minimize health risks, and reduce liabilities. OSHA regulates anything in the workplace that has to do with employee safety, including safe spraying operations. The code for the criteria for the design and construction of spray booths is OSHA 1926.66.

INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE (IFC)
This code is referenced in the International Building Code (IBC) and establishes regulations for fire prevention and fire protection systems. Chapter 15 of the IFC addresses requirements for spray areas, spray rooms and spray booths.

EPA
The Clean Air Act requires that the EPA regulates emissions of air pollutants that are hazardous to human health or to the environment, called hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Depending on what is being sprayed inside the booth and exhausted outside of the booth, there could be NESHAP (National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) regulations that apply.

STANDARD TOOLS PAINT BOOTH CERTIFICATIONS
Standard Tools has built its reputation by manufacturering, designing, and building equipment that meets or exceeds all applicable codes.

Certifications can be obtained from third-party testing organizations that marks the booth as meeting all safety regulations. Safety certifications are mandatory by many local authorities to verify the safe operation and compliance with NFPA and OSHA. It’s important that you contact your local authorities to know any requirements prior to purchasing a booth.

Standard Tools and Equipment works with Intertek to certify the safe operation of their booths. Many of the booths are tested by Intertek and include the ETL Certification. The ETL-Listed Mark is proof of compliance to internationally accepted safety standards. The booth has been physically inspected and tested by a third-party for safety. An experienced and certified expert has qualified the materials, airflow, electrical components, and functionality of the paint booth.
